Before you can ride any Moped or Motorcycle you must first complete a CBT, however if you took and passed your full car test before February 1st 2001 you may ride up to a 50cc Moped only, with no L-Plates, you may also take pillions but cannot ride on motorways. You will not need to take a CBT to ride a moped in these circumstances but will need one to ride a motorbike.
If you have never ridden a motorcycle with gears before we would always recommend a New Rider Course first so that you can learn at your own pace and not somebody else’s.
